On the occasion of the release of the i8 roadster, BMW took the opportunity to smoothly evolve the coupe, with some technical changes.
With already more than three years of good and loyal service, one would have thought that the BMW i8 would go through the box restyling and would benefit from some aesthetic retouches. However, BMW had to feel that his coupe had not taken a ride and that he could continue his career as well. It is true that this hybrid sports is still as much effect the few times it is crossed, with its futuristic silhouette.
Thus, for this new vintage, we note as the only aesthetic change the appearance of flaps on the front hood air intake, and the badge “cut” on the rear pillar, to better distinguish the roadster.
Just like this discoverable version, the 2018 i8 coupe acquires the new batteries of higher capacity , with the key 12 hp more cumulated power. In spite of this, the performances do not move and the 0 to 100 km / h is always down e 4.4 s.
More electric autonomy
The most notable progress made possible by this technical evolution is however the increase in autonomy in all-electric mode, since it is now possible to travel about 55 km without consuming a drop of gasoline, against thirty kilometers before. And that always up to the speed of 120 km / h.
Consumption and CO 2 emissions are therefore naturally in slight decline, with now 1.9 l / 100 km announced in mixed cycle and 42 g / km, against 2.1 l / 100 km and 49 g / km before.
Finally, inside, new upholstery and dashboard trim are available, as are some optional equipment, such as the head-up display.
