Java Articles:
Hi,

Apologies if this is a repeat post -- the first attempt seemed to vanish.

I've just resubscribed to this list after a few years absence. Though
I've been developing in Java since the 1.1 days it's
been a minor part of my life for the past few years. Recently though I've
become involved in a few projects (both at work
and elsewhere) that see me spending significant parts of my day actually
developing things. It's nice to be back in the
saddle. :)

I'm curious though what development environments are used by other blind
Java developers? I'm still banging rocks together
using VIM and/or Nano either on a Linux box via Cygwin under Windows or
directly on a Speakup-patched Linux box at home.
When I was last cutting serious Java code a few years back I never really
had much luck with any of the IDEs of the day.
But a lot of time has passed.

I did download NetBeans and even though I find much of it accessible
(using Jaws 9) there were enough problems that I didn't
think it was a viable every day development environment. I know I need
grab a recent Eclipse and plan to try it this
weekend.

So any recommendations for ways to make my Java development life happier
than it currently is? I'm interested in both
Windows, Linux or Solaris as the dev machine. I'm building distributed
apps which may use some Tomcat services but I don't
think I really need any app server specific tools. Just a good
code/debug/test environment.

Any experience would be gratefully received.

Cheers,
Garry
